Mission
The University of Illinois Foundation is a nonprofit corporation responsible for encouraging and administering private gifts made to further the University’s mission. Although the Foundation is a separate entity from the U of I, the Foundation’s sole reason for existence is to serve the University

Responsibilities
University of Illinois Foundation responsibilities include:
- Receipting and acknowledging private gifts as part of our stewardship
- Directing gifts to the area or project chosen by a donor
- Making regular reports to donors
- Allocating money according to the terms of a designated gift
- Managing undesignated or unrestricted funds to provide the greatest benefit for the University
- Acting as custodian for endowed funds
- Serving in legal capacities for planned giving arrangements
